How we engage

A clear path from question to capability.

Discovery is a fixed-fee, fixed-scope engagement with a concrete output. There is no obligation to continue, but the plan is designed to move naturally into delivery.

How discovery works
  1. 01

    Intro

Start with one specific operational or growth problem.

  2. 02

    Discover

Map the problem and leave with an executable plan, costs, and sequence.

  3. 03

    Build

Deliver the system with the right specialist capability around it.

  4. 04

    Run

Maintain, support, and keep improving it as the business changes.

Board-level thinking, built to survive contact with reality.

Cambit was built on both sides of the problem: board-level strategy consulting on one side, and years of hands-on delivery of demanding data and technology platforms on the other.

That combination shapes the work: commercial decisions and technical delivery stay connected, with specialist capability brought in under Cambit where an engagement requires it.

For a small number of early-stage ventures, Cambit will consider deeper partnership structures, including working for a stake in the outcome.

Before we work together

Clear answers to sensible questions.

The shape of the work depends on the problem. The principles behind it do not.

What is your typical project duration?

Engagements are shaped around the problem rather than a standard timeline. We usually begin with a focused, fixed-fee Discovery phase to define priorities, scope, and the right path forward. From there, delivery may continue as a fixed-scope build or an ongoing advisory and implementation partnership.

How do you measure return on investment?

We agree success measures at the outset. Depending on the engagement, these may include revenue growth, conversion, operational efficiency, reduced delivery risk, stronger decision-making, or time saved. Where direct financial attribution is possible, we quantify it. Where it is not, we establish clear operational indicators and review progress against them.

Do you offer fixed-fee or retainer-based engagements?

Yes. Clearly defined projects can be delivered for a fixed fee, while ongoing leadership, optimisation, and delivery are typically structured as retainers. We recommend the model that best matches the certainty, pace, and continuity the work requires.

What happens during Discovery?

Discovery turns an important but often loosely defined challenge into an actionable plan. We examine the commercial context, current systems, constraints, and opportunities, then establish priorities, success measures, and a practical delivery roadmap.

How involved will our team need to be?

We keep demands on your team focused. We need access to the right decision-makers and subject-matter experts, particularly during Discovery, but we take responsibility for structuring the work and maintaining momentum.

Do you only provide advice, or can you implement the solution?

Both. Cambit combines strategic leadership with hands-on delivery. We can define the direction, build the required systems or technology, and remain involved to improve and operate what has been created.

How do you work with existing teams and suppliers?

We work collaboratively with internal teams, agencies, and specialist partners. Our role is to create clarity, align delivery around commercial priorities, and close the gaps between strategy, technology, and execution, not to add another layer of complexity.

What makes Cambit different from a traditional consultancy?

Cambit is designed for growing businesses that need senior thinking without unnecessary scale or ceremony. Clients work closely with experienced practitioners who stay accountable from initial diagnosis through implementation and ongoing delivery.

Is Cambit a good fit for an early-stage business?

Yes. Cambit works with selected early-stage businesses that need strong strategic, product, and technical foundations. We are particularly valuable when the ambition is clear but the operating model, systems, or route to delivery still need to be shaped. The best fit is a committed founding team looking for an experienced partner who can connect strategy with hands-on execution.

What is the first step?

We begin with an introductory conversation to understand the challenge, its commercial importance, and whether Cambit is the right partner. If there is a strong fit, we will recommend a clear next step, usually a focused Discovery engagement.
